Lately, many celebs have come up with various recipes, food books, with all kinds of foods with funky names such as kale and maca. As a healthy lifestyle supporter I have tried many of those products and have made my own research and personally noticed their effects. We are starting our celebrity inspired health food blog posts with almond milk.
Almond milk is a delicious health alternative to regular dairy milk. It is a valuable alternative to those who are lactose intolerant or are looking for a substitute of the dairy product.
Almond milk has more and more applications in our daily lives. I personally consume it as is or combine it with various vegetables and fruits for a dairy-free, lactose-free and soy-free smoothie which supplies enough energy to power start a busy day. I have witnessed couples substitute baby formula for homemade almond milk.
There are pros and cons of using almond milk. However, almond milk is gaining popularity. The fact that numerous serious business publications such as Business Insider and Time Magazine have been publishing research on almond milk indicates that there is a growing interest in this product. According to recent studies almond milk has outsold soy-based milk. The best almond milk in terms of nutritional values is of course the fresh made one which is extracted from the almonds with the help of a blender or a food processor.
If you would like to prepare your own almond milk at home you need to purchase raw almonds and sink them in water for 2 days. After the almonds have been in water you have to drain the water. Afterwards you blend the almonds and add fresh new water in the mixture. The quantity of almonds to water should be 1:2. Make sure that you refrigerate the almond milk and use it within 48 hours.
The next celebrity inspired health food which will be featured is the superfood maca which is an energy food and considered even as a substitute of coffee. Stay tuned for a short review and my personal experience with maca.
