Balancing Your Family and Work

24-September-2016

How many working mothers are suffering, not being able to find a balance between their family and work? How many of them quit their jobs because they do not spend enough time with their kids? There is always that dilemma. When you work you always feel guilty that you are not at home. And when you are at home you feel that burden for not dedicating enough time at work. When some time passes you suddenly realize that all these days you have lived with such a bad feeling of culpability that you do not enjoy neither spending time with your kids nor being at work. So there is always this dilemma, and actually there is no way to deal with it.

However, there are some ways to balance your family and work lives. First of all you have to realize that there is no way to be everywhere at the same time, you just have to do the best you can with the time you have. For that you have to set some priorities both for your family and work, so you can create a calendar with all of the most important events, like attending your kid’s performance at school or having a lunch with your business partner. Some of hardworking mothers suggest even scheduling dinners with your family, since you might get so busy at work, that you simply forget your family.

Another way to keep the balance is to stop wasting your time on some unnecessary things. For example you can stop watching so much TV or surfing the Internet, and instead of that to spend some time with your kids, playing or teaching them. Moreover, if you know, for example, that you can do your shopping online, that it would be much faster than buying some groceries yourself, than do it and dedicate some spare time to your kid.

And the last, but not the least important thing that you can do to make your life more balanced is to dedicate at least 5 minutes per day to yourself. Just take a hot bath or meditate or write a journal. Do the thing that you really like, since your favorite things make you a person you really are. Moreover, it will help not only you, but also your family and people around you, since you will be calmer, feeling yourself complete.

Yes, finding that right balance is not easy, but it is achievable. The key to this is to be organized, to focus on your plan and not to forget to spare some time for yourself. A lot of working mothers managed to overcome that stress and to manage both family and work, so definitely you can do it as well!
